Egon Kulhánek will remain the director of the Karlín Musical Theatre

Egon Kulhánek remains as director of the Karlín Music Theatre in Prague. He won the selection process, the results of which were approved by Prague councilors. Kulhánek has been leading the Karlín theatre since 2003. The commission praised his concept, which it said guarantees the stable operation of the city's subsidized organisation.

Two candidates applied for the audition within the deadline. They presented their concepts for the further development of the theatre to the commission consisting of political representatives, officials and experts and underwent personal interviews.
"The concept of the current director Egon Kulhánek best captures the economic knowledge of the environment, defines real possibilities and depicts the reality of the Prague theatre space, thus guaranteeing the certainty of the stable operation of the organisation for years to come," states the explanatory report of the approved material. According to the commission, the theatre's musical focus is behind its high attendance and sales.
Kulhánek was born on 1 January 1965. He has been at the helm of the Karlín theatre since 2003, when he replaced Ladislav Županič. Before that, he was, for example, the producer of the musical Dracula and the manager of the dance group Uno.
